Catalog: M2M_CATALOG
Event Time: 2025-03-12T14:17Z ( ACE: MAG )

DSCOVR: PLASMAG
Activity ID: 2025-03-12T14:17:00-HSS-001 (version 4)
Event End Time:
Peak Solar Wind Speed (km/s): 570.0
Date of first appearance of coronal hole in EUV at east limb: 2025-03-04
Note: Characterized by an initial increase in solar wind speed starting at approximately 2025-03-12T14:17Z from 400 km/s to 530 km/s. An increase in temperature is observed alongside the increase in solar wind speed, with an initial increase starting at approximately 2025-03-12T14:39Z. A decrease in density is also observed alongside the increase in solar wind speed, with an initial decrease starting at approximately 2025-03-12T14:47Z. This signature was preceded by an slow amplification of magnetic field starting around 2025-03-11T14:00Z, with B_total reach a maximum of 12nT at 2025-03-12T08:45Z. There was also a brief increase in solar wind speed prior to the start of the more significant increase starting at approximately 2025-03-12T05:02Z, but this increase in solar wind speed was not accompanied by an increase in temperature or a decrease in density, so the start of the coronal hole high speed stream was determined to be the later jump in solar wind speed. This coronal hole high speed stream is likely associated with a coronal hole (centered around latitude S20) which reached the central meridian on 2025-03-09. This signature is still under analysis.
